Welcome to JagRun

We are located in the beautiful Kawartha region of Ontario; a great place to raise a Boxer, or any dog for that matter.  I currently own two Boxers, one rescue and one from a breeder, and have been a member of the Canadian Kennel Club for almost 4 years.  I have not as yet entered the conformation ring, but hope to in the not to distant future.   However, I do work with my youngest Boxer Jag on obedience, a bit of agility and protection training.  To further my education, I have recently joined the Northern Ontario Boxer Club and the Boxer Club of Canada.

Although I have not always had the privilege of their company, I have always loved animals - and dogs in particular.  I purchased my first Boxer over four years ago and life as I knew it started to change.  My journey with Jag has not been an easy one, but it is also not an experience I would change.  The journey has been full of interesting challenges, from meeting more than my fair share of bad trainers, to worrying that I was not doing the right things for my dog.  Although I know that I will never stop learning or know; everything there is to know about dogs, a lot of the concerns I had in the early years have been put to rest.

Not long after I brought Jag home, I became fully and consciously aware of the large gaps I had in my knowledge on what constitutes a good Breeder.  It was at that point that I took the first tentative steps towards teaching myself about the right and the wrong way to add a dog to my family.  While I would not trade Jag for anything, I will never again make the same mistakes.  Over time I have met many folks whose experiences have matched mine, and sadly many whose experiences were much worse.  As my knowledge grew, so too did the desire to share that knowledge with others, it was at this point that the idea for JagRun was born.

I would like to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude and thanks to Deborah Schenher of Bayridge Boxers and Great Danes and Mary Curl of Shadowdale Boxers.  Thank you, for your friendship, willingness to lend an ear, insights, and infinite patience explaining over and over just what all that stuff in the Boxer Standard really means.

It is my sincerest wish that all visitors to JagRun can find something of value to them in the information made available here.
